I began painting seriously after moving to live
on the Isles of Scilly in 1965, producing small impressionist works
outdoors.
After studying for a fine arts degree at Falmouth School of Art,
I lived in the Penzance area of Cornwall in the late 70's and early
80's, where i was involved with Newlyn and St. Ives artists whilst
continuing to show in mixed exhibitions further up country.
I returned back to the Isles of Scilly in the late 1980's where
I set up my Studio-Gallery selling my works directly to the public
whilst still maintaining links with mainland galleries.
I have always enjoyed success with oil paint and pastel working
directly with the landscape on small panels, sitting amongst the
rocks and shallow waters or painting from my dinghy.
The Islands are dominated by the weather bringing with it changes
in light and colour of sea, land and sky. Through this I try to
create warm, evocative images of their presence and moods.
Having exhibited at numerous venues over the last 25 years, my work
is currently displayed at the following Galleries:-
